Work starts on Jake’s 58 expansion, which will double casino’s size on LI

The $210 million expansion of Jake’s 58 is under way.

The 300,000-square-foot buildout will help add new restaurants, a planned conference center, exhibition hall, concert venue and hundreds of new hotel rooms to the Islandia hotel and casino.

There’s even plans for an Ultra VIP lounge with an outdoor terrace.

All that, and you can expect 1,000 new video lottery terminals, doubling the inventory, as well as expanded parking, officials said.

Jake’s 58 first welcomed gamers in February of 2017 after taking over an old Marriott along the Long Island Expressway North Service Road, at Exit 58. It’s now operated by Suffolk OTB.

County and state lawmakers joined Phil Boyle, president and CEO of Suffolk OTB, for a ceremonial groundbreaking Monday on what officials are calling one of the largest economic development projects in the region.

Officials also say “the project will employ more than 800 union construction workers and an additional 125 permanent jobs once the expansion is completed,” according to Suffolk OTB.

The goal is to complete the expansion project by the spring of 2026.
