National Weather Service issues blizzard watch for Long Island

|

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard watch for our area starting late Monday through Tuesday evening, which signals the “potential” for a major winter storm.

Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 20s and, if the storm hits, wind gusts could reach as high as 40 to 50 mph, according to the NWS.

The watch is in effect for New York City, Long Island and southern Westchester.

The storm carries the potential for 12- to 18-inch accumulations.
