Photos: The first-ever Great South Bay Summer Soirée aboard the Lauren Kristy

|

The Seatuck Environmental Association hosted its 1st Annual Great South Bay Summer Soirée Thursday night aboard the Lauren Kristy.

And it was a perfect evening for a sunset dinner.

Guests were welcome to a raw bar, as well as craft beer and wine offerings and live music out on the bay.

Informative talks were given by Dr. Alison Branco, who about local shellfish and water quality issues. That was followed by Dr. Merry Camhi, who spoke about sand tiger sharks in the Great South Bay. Naturalist John Turner educated guests on the local wildlife in and around the barrier islands.

The event, which also featured nature -and bay-inspired raffle items, served as a fundraiser for Seatuck, a nonprofit wildlife conservation group in Islip.

The event was sponsored by Capt. Mike Eagan and crew of the Lauren Kristy Paddle Wheel, Great South Bay Brewing Co., Karps Wine and Liquor and Great Atlantic Shellfish Farms, which provided oysters.
