Dublin Deck opens for its 19th season with a Hump Day Hoedown

The palm trees were loaded and on their way to Dublin Deck as it opened Wednesday for 2017 — its 19th season on Patchogue River.

After nearly two decades, co-owner Mark Miller said the original vision for “The Deck” still holds true.

“Nineteen years ago it was as little seafood shack. Scottie [Campbell] and I were bartending nearby and we reached out to buy it,” he recalled. “We always had the idea of bringing a little vacation destination, Jimmy Buffet-style, right here to the shores of Patchogue”

“After all these years, Scottie and I, once in a while we get along,” he said.

The two have since expanded into the neighboring, full-service marina, and with that, took on partners Frank Mills and Kenny Becker, who manage Dublin Deck’s 250 boat slips.

In total, the complex at 325 River Avenue now stretches over seven acres on land, with another four in the water.

To ring in its 19th season, Dublin Deck planned to host an opening night party with a Hump Day Hoedown, featuring DJ Deuce and free line dancing lessons, and My Country 96.1 FM.

Dublin Deck also runs volleyball leagues on-premises, and rents boats and paddle boards.

Ass for those palm trees, they’re in Florida but due to arrive next week.

“They’re on their way,” he assured.
