The Patchogue-Medford School District has launched official Facebook and Twitter feeds in order to keep the larger community better abreast of district happenings, around the clock.

And, they’re looking for followers.

The district is posting three to five times a day — seven days a week — with content such as a #PatMedTBT (historic images, as well as commentary, alumni news, student artwork and more, officials said.

“Our school district is evolving quickly and is a wonderful, living and breathing example of a modern educational renaissance,” the district’s superintendent, Michael Hynes, said in a statement. “In order to capture all of these great stories around us, we need social media as a tool to help educate and inform both our community, and everyone else about how great the Patchogue-Medford School District is.”

District spokesman Chris Vaccaro said social media will be a big help in spreading the word about “impactful moments” that happen every day across the district and its 11 school buildings.

“Social media allows us to promote those events almost in real time and highlight the students, staff, faculty and administrators of this great district on a consistent basis,” he said.
