Peroni brings Italian-inspired pop-up beer windows to Long Island

|

You don’t need a plane ticket to Italy to drink a Peroni through one of the country’s famous wine windows this week.

You just need to get to Patchogue or Long Beach.

Peroni Nastro Azzurro has brought its Peroni Portals pop-up experience to Long Island, transforming local bars into a modern take on Italy’s centuries-old buchette del vino, or wine windows.

The traveling activation is serving complimentary samples of Peroni through the small portal-style windows as part of an experience designed around the Italian tradition of aperitivo — basically slowing down, grabbing a drink and spending some time with friends.

The Long Island run kicked off Tuesday night at Side Street Dive in Patchogue and continues Wednesday at Drift 82 before heading west to Long Beach on Thursday.

Wednesday’s stop takes place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Drift 82, located at 82 Brightwood St. along the Patchogue waterfront. Drift 82 is also promoting giveaways and photo opportunities, with Long Island singer-songwriter Kelli Baker performing live beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The final Long Island stop is scheduled for at Borrelli’s Taproom, located at 912 W. Beech St. in Long Beach. The Peroni Portal is expected to be pouring there from 7 to 10 p.m.

All of the pop-ups are free for guests 21 and older while supplies last.

The concept made its debut in New York City on July 24 at The Parkgate in the West Village, where celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis joined the launch and served a special focaccia recipe created with Peroni. The pop-up was designed to recreate the Italian ritual of enjoying a pre-dinner drink and bite with friends.
