Redefine Meals is opening its 28th retail location this weekend — and a Yankees legend will be there to help celebrate.
The Long Island-based meal prep company will hold the grand opening of its new Selden store at 293 Middle Country Road on Saturday, Aug. 29.
The store officially opens at 11 a.m., with Baseball Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera scheduled to appear from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Rivera will be on hand to promote Mo’s Heat, his new line of officially licensed Major League Baseball hot sauces.
Customers will have the chance to sample and purchase three varieties — The Cutter, The Curve and The Sinker — each inspired by a different baseball pitch.
Those who purchase a Mo’s Heat three-pack during the event will receive a ticket for a photo opportunity with Rivera and be directed to the meet-and-greet line.
Redefine Meals will also offer grand-opening giveaways, including limited-edition T-shirts for qualifying customers, while shoppers can check out the company’s lineup of freshly prepared meals and snacks.
“We are incredibly excited to officially open our doors in Selden and make this our 28th location,” co-founders Matthew Riss and Mark Ciaburri said in a joint statement. “We’re even more excited to celebrate with such an incredible guest as Mariano Rivera.”
The Selden opening continues a rapid stretch of growth for Redefine Meals, which Riss and Ciaburri launched in 2016.
The lifelong friends grew up in Holbrook and Ronkonkoma, attended Sachem North and began the business with about $5,000 in startup money, initially selling healthier food options at sports tournaments.
Their first brick-and-mortar Redefine Meals location opened in Lake Grove in August 2020, followed by additional stores across Long Island, Queens and Westchester. The company is also in the midst of transforming 107,000 square feet of the former Entenmann’s Bakery campus in North Bay Shore into a massive new production hub that will help support its continued expansion.
The founders have said their long-term goal is to grow Redefine Meals to hundreds of locations across the Northeast and eventually build the Long Island-born company into a national brand.
Saturday’s Selden grand opening runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., while the store will remain open until 10 p.m.
