Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen’s newest Long Island location is coming soon to Centereach.
Located right in front of Island Thrift at 1770 Middle Country Road, the orange and yellow structure’s construction has been progressing quickly over the last few months.
According to a spokesperson from Popeyes, the fried chicken fast-food chain should open this location within the next few months.
Founded in New Orleans in 1973, Popeyes has more than 45 years of history, distinguishing itself with a unique New Orleans-style menu. Known for its spicy chicken, chicken tenders and fried shrimp, it’s becoming one of the world’s largest chicken fast-food restaurants, with over 3,100 establishments in the U.S. and worldwide.
Newsday reported in 2018 that Popeyes was making plans to bring the total number of the fast-food chain to 17 in Nassau and Suffolk counties. Outside of Centereach, there are currently seven Suffolk County locations. The nearest is in Patchogue.
In 2017, Canadian-based Restaurant Brands International Inc., purchased Popeyes for $1.8 billion. The company also owns Burger King and Tim Hortons.
The building of Popeyes is the latest new business to come to this part of Middle Country Road. Over the last year, the development of New Village Plaza across the street has brought businesses like Arby’s, Brownstones, Wing Stop and Cabo Fresh to the area.
