The chill and drizzle didn’t stop the 50th annual Chamber of Commerce of the Mastics & Shirley Christmas parade Sunday, as a line of dancers, performers, first -responders, floats and other groups made their way down Montauk Highway to help kick off the holiday season.
This year’s grand marshal was Debbie Metz, who runs the Mastic Sports Club Kyle Sports For Special Needs Sports program. The program allows children with disabilities to take part in a variety of sporting activities.
Additionally, Jeananne Dawson, who served on the William Floyd school board for 40 years, was named a grand marshal. Dawson passed away in September. Her family was there in her honor.
