Huntington’s own, Matt “SteamRolla” Frevola, has landed himself a spot in the lightweight rankings after his latest victory at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
Frevola put on a stunning performance at UFC 288 Saturday night, knocking down Drew Dober with a powerful right hook in the first round, which led to Frevola securing his first TKO victory in his career. Dober, who was ranked No. 14 at the time, had never experienced a TKO loss until now.
With this victory, Frevola is now on a three-fight KO win streak, and he’s not wasting any time. In his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Frevola called out rising UFC star Paddy Pimblett, showing his confidence by saying, “On my best day, I can beat anyone in the world. I truly believe that.”
Frevola is part of the Longo and Weidman Mixed Martial Arts gym, a team that has produced three UFC champions, including current champ Aljamain Sterling, who successfully defended his title against former double champ Henry Cejduo on the same card. The team has also produced champions Matt Serra and Chris Weidman.
Frevola’s impressive victory will undoubtedly earn him a spot in the lightweight rankings, boosting his stock as a rising star in the lightweight division.
