Jerry Seinfeld’s childhood home in Massapequa Park is — by his current living standards — a bit ordinary.
But as the comic legend would readily note: Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
It’s certainly not ordinary to the folks who this month inked a deal to drop about half a million bucks on the modest three-bedroom, 1 1/2 bath house at 50 Eastgate Road. The home is now under contract after being listed for $549,999.
Seinfeld, a proud Long Islander, spent his early years living inside the unassuming residence and watching his beloved New York Mets on WOR-TV Channel 9. He was 8 when his family moved from the home; they remained in the area and he graduated from Massapequa High School.
Although Seinfeld, 69, later moved to Manhattan’s Upper West Side, where he raised his own family, and stretches his legs in a multi-million dollar Hamptons summer retreat, he often reminisces about his Massapequa upbringing. His pre-“Seinfeld” suburban roots inspire a lot of the comedian’s on-stage material.
The comedian’s childhood home, built in 1956, features vinyl siding and a fenced backyard with a deck. It’s nestled on approximately a tenth of an acre.
Inside, the property boasts a spacious eat-in kitchen, a dining area, and a living room with a vaulted ceiling, along with a spacious den down in the basement. The sellers had a letter inside the home from Seinfeld, in which he confirmed that he did live there as a child, the New York Post reported.
The sale details, including the final price and the identity of the buyers, remain undisclosed.
