Uncle Joe’s officially opens in former Wading River Pizza location

Uncle Joe’s Famous Pizzeria now counts four locations on Long Island.

The Hamptons-based pizzeria company announced the takeover of Wading River Pizza in Wading River this winter. As of May, it has officially rebranded it as Uncle Joe’s, offering to-go and full sit-down dining services.

Led by Tana Gerber and Scott Gerber, the new Uncle Joe’s Famous Pizzeria is located at 6324 Route 25A in the Little Bay Shopping Center.

“We are excited to introduce the Wading River, East Shoreham, and Rocky Point communities to some of the specialties that have made us a trusted, family-friendly brand for over 50 years,” said Scott Gerber after taking over the space in February. “Rest assured, we will preserve the culinary excellence and customer service that Wading River Pizza’s regulars, fans, and locals have come to know and love.”

Uncle Joe’s was first opened in Hampton Bays in 1968 by Giuseppe “Joe” Sciara, who was born in Sicily in 1940. Last June, Sciara sold the business to Hamptons Brands, led by the Gerber family.

After reimagining the iconic Hampton Bays pizza shop, Uncle Joe’s celebrated a grand re-opening in March. They also opened new locations in Miller Place (formerly Fusilli Pizzeria) and Bellport (formerly Papa Nick’s) earlier this year.

This month, Uncle Joe’s rolled out an extended menu that now includes Extra Large Calzones, Seafood Marinara, Baked Clams, Upside Down pies and more. Here’s the full lineup:
