Lindenhurst’s new brewery 27A Brewing Company is aiming to help those hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic.
To do so, the brewery, which opened last summer, will be donating 10% of its sales to one of Long Island’s largest food banks, Long Island Cares. During the state’s shutdown, 27A is only open for beer-to-go orders and online purchases.
The owners, who are husband and wife and longtime Lindenhurst residents, wanted to take it one step further to help their neighbors.
Recently, the brewery at 73 North Wellwood Avenue began collecting protective masks for West Islip’s Good Samaritan Hospital.
“As this situation progresses we’re seeing that more and more families are struggling to make ends meet, especially being that many can’t get through to receive unemployment benefits yet,” said owner Melissa Bates-Cooke.
That’s why she and her husband Ryan decided to buy and deliver groceries for a Lindenhurst family each week.
“Our goal is to help families in need by getting them as many healthy meals as possible,” Melissa told GreaterBabylon in an email.
