Police say the 71-year-old physician allegedly had unwanted sexual contact with a 48-year-old patient while alone in an exam room.
A Long Island doctor faces sex crime charges in connection with what was supposed to be a routine oncology appointment with a patient at his hematology practice in New Hyde Park, police said.
Nassau Police Special Victims Squad detectives said Mark Hoffman, 71, of Roslyn, on May 9 was alone in aa Optum Hematology Oncology exam room with a 48-year-old female patient when he allegedly engaged in unwanted sexual contact.
Authorities said the incident occurred about noon while the victim was being seen for treatment.
Hoffman, who lives in Roslyn, was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree sexual abuse and forcible touching. He pleaded not guilty to both charges later that day at his arraignment in Nassau County District Court.
Bail for the doctor was set at $10,000 cash, $20,000 insured bond or a $50,000 partially secured surety bond. A temporary order of protection was also issued against Hoffman.
