Police say the driver lost control of her SUV and crashed through the front of a Nostrand Avenue home early Sunday
An SUV crashed through the front of a Central Islip home early Sunday after police say an intoxicated driver lost control of the vehicle.
Estefany DeJesus, 30, of Central Islip drove a 2022 BMW SUV south on Birchgrove Drive when she lost control near the intersection of Birchgrove Drive and Nostrand Avenue about 2:10 a.m., said Suffolk Police. The vehicle left the roadway and plowed into the front of a residence at 528 Nostrand Ave.
Third Precinct officers responding to the scene determined DeJesus was driving drunk and she was arrested and charged with DWI, police said. She was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for evaluation.
No residents inside the home were injured in the crash, authorities said. The Suffolk County Fire Marshal and a Town of Islip building inspector responded to assess the structural damage.
DeJesus is scheduled to be arraigned on the DWI charge on Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.
