Bottoms Up! sports bar in Islip is about to undergo some big changes, with the result being an oyster bar in the middle of Main Street.
Lisa Saggio, who also owns neighboring Lathered Up! and Sugared Up!, is reinventing her prominent space in town for a seafood spot called Blue Oyster Seafood and Oyster Bar.
“Seafood was just lacking in the area,” Saggio told GreaterBayShore.
A big part of the restaurant’s transformation, aside from the menu and décor, involves bringing on new staffers, most notably executive chef Kenneth Pulomena.

“He is a veteran chef,” said Saggio. “His resume goes on and on.”
Pulomena’s work spans decades in the culinary business, including known kitchens such as that at the Waldorf Astoria and the Yankee Stadium Diamond Club.
His seafood experience comes from working in Manhattan restaurants that include Docks and Blue Water Grill.
As of now, Bottoms Up! will remain open while the kitchen and dining areas are redone. There will be a limited menu available until the full flip occurs, which could take a couple weeks.
Another new feature will come in the form of an outdoor eating area that will include an enclosure with a tent, Saggio said.
The new Blue Oyster sign will go up at 526 Main Street this Friday.
