A Farmingville man slammed into a police car and tore off in a chase that left three Suffolk County cops injured before he was caught, authorities said on Friday.
Detectives were outside the man’s home Thursday to investigate a firearms case when he fled the home and hopped into a white SUV, police said. An unmarked police vehicle tried to stop him, but he allegedly slammed into a cop car and sped off.
The suspect was pursued by both an unmarked 2020 Ford SUV and a marked police car. The unmarked vehicle lost control as it exited Patchogue-Holbrook Road onto Nicolls Road and smashed into a tree, injuring the driver and another officer inside.
The chase ended when the suspect pulled over on eastbound Sunrise Highway and was arrested.
Cops Crash recorded by dashcam
News 12 obtained dashcam footage of the unmarked car crashing into a tree.
The suspect faces a bevy of charges: second-degree assault on a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and unlawful fleeing a police officer.
The three injured officers — two from the unmarked vehicle and the officer in the struck police car—were treated at local hospitals and released.
