Former Long Island and Brooklyn Nets guard Tyson Etienne is saying au revoir to the NBA โ€” but the Long Island basketball standout is far from done chasing his professional dreams.

The Long Island Lutheran graduate has signed with Paris Basketball, making his next move to one of the top leagues outside the NBA.

After a standout career at LuHi, Etienne gained national attention at Wichita State, where he became one of the most dynamic scoring guards in the U.S. After going undrafted in 2022, he took his talents to the College Park Skyhawks in the G League for two years, before making his way back to the Island.

That opportunity proved to be a turning point.

During his first season playing at the Nassau Coliseum for the Long Island Nets, Etienne became one of the G Leagueโ€™s breakout players, averaging 17.1 points, 3.5 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 41.8 percent from three-point range in 48 games.

He also impressed in his NBA debut in a short seven game stint for Brooklyn. It came toward the end of the 2025 season, when he was called up to help fill out the roster.

That earned him another two-way contract with Brooklyn last summer.

Etienne played in 24 games for Brooklyn last season, averaging just under 8 points and 2 assists per game while shooting nearly 40 percent from beyond the arc.

He also played in 32 games in the G-League on Long Island, averaging 16 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds while connecting on just under 40 percent of his three-point attempts.

Now, the 6-foot guard is boarding a flight to France, where Paris Basketball competes in the LNB ร‰lite and the EuroLeague โ€” widely considered the strongest basketball competition outside of the NBA.

This will be Etienneโ€™s first stint overseas, where is he is expected to get more playing time and experience.

Recent Knicks draft picks Pacรดme Dadiet and Mohamed Diawara both came up through Paris Basketball’s developmental system, before eventually reaching the NBA and becoming champions this past June.
