Hampton Bays staple takes over Papa Nick’s Pizzeria in Bellport

The Uncle Joe’s Pizza & Parlour expansion continues.

The owners of the Hamptons-based pizzeria company announced the third pizzeria acquisition in 2024, taking over Papa Nick’s location in the heart of downtown Bellport.

“We are excited to introduce the Bellport, Brookhaven, East Patchogue, and Mastic communities to the specialties that have made Uncle Joe’s a trusted, family-friendly brand for over 50 years,” said Tana Gerber, who owns Uncle Joe’s with her husband Scott.

The Tauriello family, who ran Papa Nick’s for nearly two-and-a-half decades, will be moving to Florida this summer.

“As we look back on the past 24 years, we are filled with gratitude for the support and friendship you have shown us at Papa Nick’s Pizzeria,” said co-owner Sal Tauriello. “It has been an incredible journey serving you, and we feel truly thankful and blessed for the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful community.”

Uncle Joe’s began slinging slices in Bellport officially on Tuesday.

“Uncle Joe’s intends to preserve the Tauriello family’s commitment to culinary excellence and high-quality customer service that Papa Nick’s fans have come to know and love since its founding in Lake Ronkonkoma in 1987,” said Scott Gerber.

Uncle Joe’s Pizza first opened in Hamptons Bays back in 1968 by Giuseppe “Joe” Sciara, who was born in Sicily in 1940.

Last June, Sciara sold the business to Hamptons Brands, which is led by the Gerbers. The Sciara family maintained a minority stake in the company.

Following a complete reimagining of the iconic Hampton Bays pizza shop, Uncle Joe’s Pizza & Parlour celebrated a grand re-opening last month under its new majority owners.

As Greater Long Island previously reported, the Gerbers recently took over Wading River Pizza and also will be expanding to Miller Place soon in the old Fusilli location. Several new locations will be announced in the coming weeks, ownership said.
