Here are Suffolk’s 10 best public high schools for 2025

|

Suffolk County has three of the best 50 high schools in New York for 2025, including both high schools in the Half Hollow Hills Central School District, Niche says in its new Best Schools and Districts rankings.

Half Hollow Hills West and Half Hollow Hills East are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in Suffolk County and No. 7 and No. 17 in the state, respectively. Notably, Hills West is also the highest-ranked Long Island high school in Niche’s study.

The third-highest ranked Suffolk school, Ward Melville, is No. 38 in New York.

Suffolk’s top three high schools were the only three to receive an overall grade of A+ from Niche, a leading data analytics outlet focused on K-12 schools and colleges. Their rankings are based on a comprehensive assessment of such key factors as academics, college readiness, teacher quality, extracurricular activities and diversity, among other categories.

Niche says it aims to give a comprehensive and objective assessment of academic excellence, student experience and overall school quality, in order to provide a valuable resource for students and families looking to identify the top-performing public high schools in their area.
