With the grand opening of J&L’s Chicken, Fish, and Ribs, the wait is over for traditional Southern recipes right here in Medford.
The new comfort food restaurant opened its doors on Sunday, June 26, at 3147 Route 112, just south of the Country Fair Entertainment Park.
As previously reported, J&L’s is a family owned and operated business, with the original location in Riverhead. J&L’s isn’t just chicken, fish and ribs, as its name indicates.
The menu also includes wings, gyros, kabobs, and more.
So far, owners Leroy and Josefin Hines have been pleased with the responses from customers in Medford.
“The business is doing really well,” said Josefin. “We’ve had great feedback from the community. People really like our ribs, and how they are tender and flavorful.”
The seafood dishes have also been a hit, she said.
“We’re doing amazingly well with our fish,” she said. “People love our catfish, whiting, and tilapia.”

To mark its opening, J&L’s has been offering a special $5 box deal that includes:
- Either three wings, three chicken tenders, a leg and thigh, or two pieces of whiting
- Cornbread or biscuit (baked fresh every morning)
- With a small order of fries and a small sized drink
- For an additional $.99 you can upgrade the drink to medium size and swap out the fries for an order of baked beans, mac and cheese, yams, or another side
“Our goal is to provide families with affordable food that tastes great — from fried to grilled dishes,” says Josefin.
As of now, the $5 box will stay on the menu as long as it remains popular.
J&L’s is open Monday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
