Meet Jordan Marotta.
The 5-year-old boy from Dix Hills was born without a left hand and is believed to be the youngest person in the world to have received a bionic hero arm, custom made as an “Iron Man” arm, from Open Bionics, based in the U.K.
The arm came at his request.
“It changes the conversation from people staring at him and seeing him for what he’s missing, versus now it’s like, ‘Wow! That’s really cool,” Jordan’s mom Ashley told Greater Long Island’s Jamie Stuart.
Jordan, a huge sports fan, was honored Thursday at the university by the both the Stony Brook Seawolves basketball and baseball teams.
He also signed a letter of intent to play baseball right here in Stony Brook.
“He loves the game of baseball, he has a passion for the game of baseball just like our guys do,” said Stony Brook coach Matt Senk.
Jordan had been playing with the Seawolves through a nonprofit group called Team IMPACT.
“He’s everything you want in a teammate,” Senk said. Watch below.
