Long Island man’s wallet blocks bullet, saves the day and maybe his life

|

This had to be one fat wallet.

A man shot at while inside his vehicle in Coram this week came out unscathed, thanks to his wallet, which blocked one of the bullets, police said.

Suffolk Police said an unknown person fired multiple shots into the man’s vehicle, which was located inside the Homestead Village Apartment Complex, at the intersection of Homestead Drive and Grant Court. None of the bullets found their mark — except the one that became lodged in the man’s wallet.

The shooting occurred on Wednesday about 10:50 a.m.

Cops asked for anyone with information on the incident to contact the Sixth Squad detectives unit at 631.854.8652 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.220.TIPS.
