Long Island’s Matt Frevola earns first-round KO victory at UFC 281

He told us.

Huntington’s Matt Frevola gets it done in the first round at UFC 281, defeating Ottman Azaitar by first round knockout.

It’s back-to-back wins for the Long Islander. It was the first career loss for Azaitar.

Frevola finally got redemption for when he had a majority draw decision the last time he fought at MSG in 2018.

Leading up to this fight, the SteamRolla told Greater Long Island he wasn’t going to leave it up to the judges.

Mission complete.

After he stunned the Bulldozer with a right-hand punch, he came over with his left hand to finish him off.

This fight has been in the works for two years. The two were initially supposed to fight at UFC 257 but Azaitar withdrew last minute after breaking COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

”Honestly, this feels like a dream,” Frevola told UFC host Joe Rogan following the impressive victory.

The crowd loved the finish and erupted in SteamRolla chants.

What’s next for the Huntington fighter? He wants a piece of rising lightweight star Paddy Pimblett, calling him out in his post-fight interview.

Pimblett (19-3) is fighting Queens native Jared Gordon (19-5) at UFC 282 on Dec 10 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
