Long Island’s summer spots announcing opening dates for 2025

It’s that time of year when Long Island’s waterfront and other seasonal restaurants and bars start pulling down their tarps for summer. Here’s a list of our favorite spots and the opening dates, all provided directly from the owners or management. Tap the place names to visit their websites or social media feeds for addresses, menus, operating hours and other updates.

Note: These list is strictly for seasonal operations, not waterfront restaurants that are open year-round.


Salt Shack Seaside Grill

Cedar Beach, Babylon

Opens Sunday, April 27, right on the ocean beach. Open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Flo’s Luncheonette

Blue Point

Opens April 12 at 302 Middle Road, just north of Corey Beach.

Flynn’s Fire Island

Ocean Bay Park

The family-owned seafood restaurant known for its fun summer party scene at 1 Cayuga Street in Ocean Bay Park is set to open Memorial Day weekend, which in 2025 starts Friday, May 23.

Sand Castle on the Ocean

Cherry Grove

One of two Fire Island spots on the Atlantic Ocean. Opening weekend is May 9 to May 11. May 10 is a VIP Party starting at 6 p.m.

Little Fish

Kenny’s Beach, Southold

Little Fish is keeping it vague at Kenny’s Beach, writing on the website they open for the season in April 2025.

Cooper Bluff

Oyster Bay

The only waterfront bar in Oyster Bay has circled May 1 as its opening date. Keep an eye on their Instagram feed for event updates.

The Casino Cafe & Bar

Davis Park

One of Fire Island’s only two oceanfront restaurant typically kicks off its season in early May. As always, they will also be hosting a big Kentucky Derby party on May 3. Click here for more info.

Dublin Deck

Patchogue River

The Deck’s opening date hasn’t yet been announced, but the place will be hosting what they’re calling a hiring blitz that’s happening in-person at the riverfront spot on Saturday, April 5, and Saturday April 19, from 2 to 5 p.m.

Nicky’s on the Bay

Bay Shore

Opens in May, though no exact date has yet been announced. Follow the Facebook feed for updates.

Nicky’s Clam Bar

Bay Shore

The Clam Bar already opened for the 2025 season on March 1 at 11 a.m. at the Fire Island Ferries terminal.

Dive

Kismet, Fire Island

The Kismet restaurant, which serves craft cocktails alongside an elevated menu with a raw bar, begins its fifth season May 3. Click here for the May schedule of events, posted to Instagram.

John Scott’s Surf Shack

Westhampton Beach

This chill restaurant that is a stone’s throw away from Cupsogue Beach wrote on social media in late October that they’d be back open in six months. So, doing the math, that would be sometime in April. Click here for Facebook updates.

The Boat Yard Waterfront Bar & Grill

Tobay Beach

Last year, The Boat Yard opened in mid-May, but has announced a date yet. But, they are hiring for the upcoming season. There are hiring events scheduled at 1 Ocean Parkway, Massapequa, on April 12 and April 19, each from noon to 3 p.m.

Clam Bar at Napeague

Amagansett

This Hamptons seafood spot opens for its 44rd season in April. Tap here to learn more.

Surf Shack Flip Flop Coastal Kitchen

Tobay Beach

Last season, Surf Shack Flip Flop Coastal Kitchen opened in mid-May, though an announcement hasn’t yet been made. But there is a hiring event scheduled at 1 Ocean Parkway, Massapequa, on April 12 and April 19, each from noon to 3 p.m.

Dirty Taco

Manhasset Bay Marina, Port Washington

Reopens for its third year on the water this May or late April, with the hope to be open on Cinco de Mayo. Follow here.

Dockers Waterside

East Quogue

The doors open for summer 2025 on Saturday, May 3, at 11 a.m.

The Barnyard at Hampton Bays

Hampton Bays

Ownership at the former Boardy Barn property hosted a special one-day party March 22 (see video below) for the Hampton Bays St. Patrick’s Parade. But, The Barnyard team hasn’t announced yet when they’re fully opening for the season.


Kingston’s Clam Bar

West Sayville

This staple bayside seafood restaurant known for its lobster rolls typically opens in late April or early May through September.
