A new deli is serving up hot and ready Ecuadorian cuisine at the corner of Mastic Road and Wavecrest Drive in Mastic Beach.
JB Deli Grocery opened for business at 524 Mastic Road in November, an employee confirmed.
The deli opens at 5:30 a.m. on most days and 6 a.m. on Sundays for breakfast. Customers can get their morning cup of coffee and an egg sandwich or platter.
For lunch and dinner, JB offers a wide array of Ecuadorian pork, chicken and fish dishes.
Behind the counter are hot trays filled with sancocho stew with pork and roasted potatoes; chicken in salsa de mani or peanut sauce; and chicharrón de pescado, small curly pieces of fried fish.
Ladles stir up lentil stew and pasta cheese soups. There are also street food favorites like meat-and cheese-filled empanadas, pupusas and tacos.
Customers can also get a cup of morocho, a thick sweet drink made with morocho cracked corn, milk, cinnamon, sugar and raisins.
Of course, there are plenty of snacks and drinks to pick up, from Pringles and tostones chips to Nesquik chocolate milk to Jarritos soda.
