A 7-year-old Mastic boy was struck and killed by a vehicle that fled the scene after the boy wandered from his Mastic home unattended and walked onto the eastbound side of Sunrise Highway in Mastic between Exit 58 and Exit 59 last night, Suffolk police said.
Police said the incident occurred at around 10:15 p.m.
The boy, Sadq Aljomi, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.
