The transformation from the SunVet zombie mall in Holbrook to a premium South Shore shopping destination continues.
The Seattle-based retailer Nordstrom, Inc., has just announced the company will be opening a Nordstrom Rack discount location at The Shops at SunVet, which is currently under construction at the old mall property on Sunrise Highway.
This news comes on the heels of WholeFoods and Starbucks signing leases at the new center, among others. No opening date has been set.
It also follows the opening of a Nordstrom Rack location in Bay Shore in June.

“We look forward to being a part of the Holbrook community and serving our customers with an amazing offering of great brands at great prices,” said Gemma Lionello, president of Nordstrom Rack. “We’re excited to grow our footprint in the New York market and introduce new customers to the Nordstrom experience.”
This would mark the second Nordstrom Rack in Suffolk County, with another located in Garden City.
The new location will measure 27,000 square feet, the announcement reads.
“Nordstrom Rack is a perfect addition to what is being developed at The Shops at SunVet,” said Jack deVilliers, of Regency Centers, which owns and is managing The Shops at SunVet. “Their best-in-class teams make them not only a great group to work with but also a merchant-of-choice for the surrounding community.”
Currently, Nordstrom, Inc., operates five Nordstrom stores and 11 Nordstrom Rack stores in New York.
Nordstrom Rack is the off-price sister department store to Nordstrom.
