Patchogue’s big Italian Festival of St. Liberata is this Saturday, Sept. 8

Patchogue is going to be celebrating its 51st annual Italian Festival of St. Liberata this weekend on Main Street.

On Saturday, Sept. 8, from noon to 6 p.m., the road will be closed off for indoor and outdoor dining, vendors, live entertainment and a bocce ball tournament.

The day will kick-off with the traditional parade, which will begin in front of the Suffolk County District Court and finish off at the Four Corners at 12:45 p.m.

After that, families will be able to enjoy the classic and Italian car show, children’s karaoke, a magician, dunk tank, a jester, bouncy houses, and live entertainment by Think BIG Theater Arts.

Vino in the Village

During the feast, some restaurants will be participating in “Vino in the Village,” a wine crawl for $15 a person, allowing patrons to try a variety of wines while receiving a commemorative souvenir glass.

The current participating locations include Locale Gastro Bar and PizzetteThe Tap RoomThat Meetball Place Patchogue, and The Village Idiot Pub–more still to be announced.

bocce tournament

The annual bocce ball tournament will be held by the lawn of the Teen Center at the Patchogue-Medford Carnegie Library, which is run by the Cultural Heritage Committee of the Greater Patchogue Foundation

“This is a 2-flight, double-elimination tournament, with 8 teams per flight,” writes the committee. “A trophy will be awarded to two members of the 1st and 2nd place finishers.”

The first flights are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

live music

Live music throughout the fest will be performed by:
• Giglio Italian Marching Band
• John Sirianni and Killing Time
• Nino – Songs of Sinatra and Friends
• Carmelo Raccuglia, the Italian Singer
• Tony Grant

rain date

This year’s rain date is scheduled for  Saturday, Sept. 22.
