If you’re cruising through downtown Patchogue Wednesday night, Oct., 21, and you see a horde of realistic-looking zombies on the streets, don’t be alarmed. It’s not the end of days.
In fact, for Patchogue’s first-ever Zombie Club Crawl founder Autumn Scioli, she’s hoping the event is the beginning of something special — in the form of a unique October tradition for the village.
Scioli, a photographer who operates Shutterhut Creative Studio with her partner, Michael Zinn, said she had taken a trip to NYZ Apocalypse in Deer Park weeks back with an actor client who wanted to get done up in horror makeup. It was there, while makeup artist Church Haley was doing his magic, that she wondered aloud about a zombie pub crawl.
“I was told they do have them, in places like New York City, but nothing out here,” she said. “And I thought, well why not?”
And so the idea was born.
Shutterhut has since partnered with 89 North Music Venue for the event.
Participants looking to crawl, quite literally if they want, like a zombie down Main Street are invited to get their makeup done by Haley and a team of professional artists for $50 at 89 North starting at 6:30 p.m. That $50 also gets them two drinks and a professional photo courtesy of Shutterhut Creative. The band Demon Boy is performing.
The cutoff for people to sit for makeup will be at 10 p.m. People 21 and over are also invited to show up in their own makeup. Those people would not have to pay the $50. Admission into 89 North is actually free, even for those not looking to participate in the pub crawl but just want to watch.
The crawl will start at the Village Idiot Pub on East Main Street at 11 p.m., from there it’s to The Tap Room at 11: 30 p.m. and then Brickhouse Brewery to wrap things up at midnight.
“This stuff scares me,” Scioli said. “I’m actually surprised I’m even doing this.”
