After 21 years, Edna Louise Spear Elementary’s beloved “snack lady” has retired.

On June 12, Port Jefferson School District Board of Education gathered to celebrate’s Patricia Gang’s long service in the school system.

“She will be missed and we all wish her well,” said the school’s principal, Tom Meehan.

Gang’s career in the Port Jeff school began when she worked in the school lunch program, where she earned her nickname.

According to the district, she soon became the most popular person in the school.

Gang later became a teacher assistant and officially retired at the end of the 2018 school year.
