Photos: Taste of the South Shore 2016 was the Islip Chamber’s biggest yet

|

The Islip Chamber of Commerce threw its biggest Taste of the South Shore event to date Monday night at the Seatuck Environmental Association grounds in Islip.

Nearly 20 food and drink establishments participated in the event.

“We had a great night and a fabulous turnout,” said the chamber’s president, Doris Kennedy, saying Taste of the South Shore 2016 attracted well over 200 people to Seatuck. (The chamber volunteers are still working out the final tally.)

The first two Taste of the South Shore festivals were held at Captain Bill’s in Bay Shore, before moving to Seatuck last year. That event attracted about 200 people.

A majority of the proceeds will go toward 9-1-1 Veterans, which provides emergency financial assistance to those who have served, or are still serving, in the U.S. military.

The chamber will present a check to the group at its November meeting.
