The asking price for the five-bedroom colonial in Great Neck where legendary comedian Groucho Marx raised a family has dropped by $200,000.
On the market for more than three months, the half-acre property at 21 Lincoln Road is now on sale for $2.1 million, according to Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty. It hit the real estate market Aug. 13 with an asking price of $2.3 million.
Groucho, a cigar-smoking funny man who sported his signature greasepaint mustache for the bulk of his career, lived in the home from 1926-1931, before relocating to Hollywood.
He was wed to his first wife Ruth when he purchased the home for $27,000. The couple’s son Arthur was 6 and their daughter Miriam was born within a year, according to the Great Neck Historical Society.
