Qwik Ride carts will be in Bay Shore when the Budweiser Clydesdales visit

Breaking: Clydesdales en route to Bay Shore; ‘every attempt’ will be made to march

Qwik Ride is bringing its free transportation service to Bay Shore for the Budweiser Clydesdales visit on Thursday, Oct. 11.

In anticipation of packed streets filled with people watching the famed-horses deliver beer along Main Street, the ride service company is hoping to alleviate some parking issues.

“It’s going to bring a lot of patrons to the area,” said Paul Llobell, Qwik Ride’s director of sales. “We wanted to do everything we can to make the event as successful as possible.”

The horses will be in town from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. They will start at Homan Avenue and proceed west to Ocean Avenue.

For the uninitiated,  Qwik Ride operates as a free alternative to Uber and Lyft, where patrons can order a ride via an app. Instead of cars, the company uses street legal Polaris Gem E6 carts — the six-passenger model — that are equipped with heat, TVs, sound systems and lighting.

Qwik Ride launched in Patchogue in May and expanded to Huntington in September, followed by Northport, and will be running in Port Jefferson Village this fall.

The company is looking to expand to other areas of Long Island, possibly Bay Shore, in the future.
