Hofstra went dancing once again.
Head coach and former NBA champion Speedy Claxton led the Pride to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since his playing days with the team in 2001.
Fresh off a CAA championship, Hofstra faced No. 4 seed Alabama on Friday in Tampa in the first round.
The Pride trailed early, falling behind 8–2 to start, but battled back to build a 10-point lead in the first half. Alabama, however, pulled away after the break to hand Hofstra a 90–70 loss.
Hofstra finishes the season at 24-11 — one of the program’s best campaigns in decades.
CAA Freshman of the Year Preston Edmead, a Deer Park native, led the Pride with 24 points.
