Franklin “Franco” Gray, a beloved security guard at Newfield High School for nearly two decades, has passed away. He died on Sept. 8 after battling cancer.

His son, Anthony Sheehan, has started a GoFundMe campaign to help afford a cremation for his father. The goal is to raise $3,000. As of Monday, Sept. 18, at 6:30 p.m., just over $1,500 has been raised.

“We thank you in advance for all your support anything!” Sheehan wrote.

Gray was well-loved by his students, especially for his big personality and genuineness. Many took to Facebook to share their memories of Gray.

“He was one of the funniest dudes ever,” one person wrote. “He had a nickname for me, he used to call me ‘Mouth’ because I was always yelling and screaming in the hallways every day.”
