A documentary featuring firsthand stories from 9/11 responders will return to Stony Brook this month for a free commemorative screening.
The Stony Brook Film Festival and Staller Center for the Arts are partnering with Stony Brook Medicine’s WTC Health & Wellness Program to present an encore screening of 9/11: An American Requiem on Thursday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m.
The documentary, which had its world premiere at the Stony Brook Film Festival in 2011 during the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, shares the stories of responders and the experiences that continue to shape their lives and the nation’s collective memory.
The screening is part of Stony Brook University’s “Remembering September 11” commemoration.
A special Q&A will follow the film featuring Dr. Benjamin Luft, executive producer of the documentary and director of the Stony Brook WTC Health & Wellness Program; producer and WTC program deputy director Julie Broihier; NYC Transit Police Officer Carol Paukner; Commack volunteer firefighter Rob Weisberg; and NYPD Emergency Services Unit Officer William Fischer.
