Retailers on and around Main Street in Center Moriches and East Moriches are teaming up for “Summer Sidewalk Sale” this weekend to boost sales as they continue to struggle amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The effort, to run from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, is being sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of the Moriches. The band High Tide will play from 1-3 p.m. in Bank Street Park.
“I am hoping that [the Summer Sidewalk Sale] will bring out people to our Main Street and hoping that they come out and support the town,” said chamber president Julie Pratt, who said the organization reached out to all the retailers along Main Street, many of whom continue to struggle or haven’t opened at all.
Pratt said she did not know how many retailers planned to participate.
Everyone is asked to wear masks and maintain a safe six-foot distance between other shoppers.

The chamber is planning a “Christmas in Moriches” event in the third week of August as another way to help local businesses.
