A vigil honoring Mount Sinai High School principal Robert Grable, who suddenly died last week at 49, is set for tonight. No cause of death has been released. Scroll down to see information on the vigil.
In addition to being a longtime educator, Grable was a life-long Long Islander who grew up in Oakdale. Grable, who played professional baseball, was a three-sport athlete at Connetquot High School.

Please join us for a community vigil and remembrance service for our beloved Principal Robert M. Grable, tonight, July, 22 at 7 p.m. rain or shine.
Come celebrate Rob Grable’s life with us.
Please note that the North Country Gate will be closed. Cars should enter from the 25A gate only. There will be parking in the elementary school front and back parking areas and the middle school with the overflow areas open.
The turf field is closed due to construction. You may walk to the high school parking lot through the JV fields.
Pedestrians drop-offs may be had at the back gate (west of the main North Country Road gate) and 25A gate. The neighborhood gates will be open as well to pedestrians. Limited handicap parking will be available behind the high school at the loading dock parking area.
Thank you to the Mount Sinai Fire Department for their assistance in this program, traffic control, and tribute. We anticipate a large turnout and the entire High School parking lot will be used for Community and friends to gather. Please feel free to bring chairs or blankets. Water is recommended and an umbrella. The locker room bathrooms will be available.
You will be asked, if you wish, at the close of the program to write down on a card anything you would like to say about or to Rob Grable. We will have a remembrance fire lit in the bus lane for a community procession to place in the fire so your thoughts make their way up into the heavens. You are welcome to remain for a while to be with friends, colleagues and neighbors in this trying time.
