Woman’s body recovered from Long Island Sound in Lloyd Harbor

Police have not said whether the discovery is connected to a missing East Norwich woman whose wallet was found at Oyster Bay Harbor weeks ago

Suffolk Police recovered the body of a woman from the Long Island Sound in Lloyd Harbor on Monday evening after a 911 call reported a body floating in the water.

Officers responded to the call at 7:45 p.m. off Lloyd Harbor Road and pulled a woman from the water in the small, affluent village on Long Island’s North Shore.

Police said the identity of the woman and the cause of death is pending confirmation by by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police have not said whether the recovery is connected to any open missing person cases. Brittany Kritis-Garip, 32, of East Norwich has been missing since March 20 after exiting a moving a car in Oyster Bay. Her wallet was found at the end of Florence Avenue at Oyster Bay Harbor, also on the North Shore and roughly five miles west of where the body was found on Monday.

Suffolk Police’s Homicide Squad is handling the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Homicide Squad detectives at 631.852.6392.
