The New York Yankees are looking to bolster the team’s pitching for next season.
First they signed All-Star right-hander Gerrit Cole to a massive contract in December, and now they inked West Islip’s Nicholas Tropeano to a minor-league deal on Wednesday.
Tropeano, a 29-year-old right-hander had some success in the MLB going 12-14 as a starter for the Houston Astros and, more recently, the Los Angeles Angles organizations.
During that time, he tossed 193 strikeouts with 87 walks in 42 career games.
The Stony Brook University alum, who was drafted in the fifth round by the Astros in 2013, pitched in three games last season for the Angels. He notched 10 strikeouts and six walks in 13 2/3 innings.
