Southside Hospital will be alleviating its parking crunch while expanding services — with plans to build a 5-story parking garage and a new, 90-room pavilion in Bay Shore.

That’s according to Newsday, which published a report Thursday, July 5, detailing a “new phase in the Bay Shore hospital’s plan to improve patient care by increasing beds and parking spaces.”

“You can’t build any more beds unless you have the appropriate parking spaces,” the hospital’s executive director, Donna Moravick, told the paper.

“Right now there are 20 patients on a daily basis who do not have a bed.”

According to the report, the plan is to tear down a building owned by the hospital on the northeast side of campus to build the garage, which the hospital is hoping to break ground on next year.

The pavilion will also be five stories and will be on the southwestern part of campus, a Southside Hospital spokesperson told GreaterBayshore on Friday.
