Lucharitos celebrates Station Yards location, its sixth on Long Island

|

Lucharitos received a warm welcome to Station Yards in Ronkonkoma on Friday.

This is the popular Tex Mex spot’s sixth location, and it joins the ranks of Great South Bay Brewery, Redefine Meals, Bethpage Federal Credit Union and (coming soon) Tap Room, Vespa Italian Kitchen & BarPoki Poke and Artemis speakeasy.

The new Lucharitos opened last month within a standalone building in the massive development’s main courtyard, called The Village Green.

It offers seating for 35 guests, complemented by outdoor seating for 45 more.

“We’re excited about every business, and [Lucharitos], in particular, is going to do very well,” said the Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce president, Ed McNamara. “It’s a niche with a strong following throughout the island, so naturally, we’re happy.

“They could have chosen many other communities, but they chose us.”

Station Yards is a multi-phase project spearheaded by TRITEC. Its first phase, completed in 2021, introduced 489 apartment homes under the name Alston Station Yards. The current phase, which includes 388 additional apartments, 70,000 square feet of retail space, 16,500 square feet of office space, and a public plaza, is set to be completed by late spring or early summer.

“TRITEC has done an outstanding job creating an environment where some of the top restaurants and operators are grouped together to form this total destination,” said Lucharitos owner March LaMaina. “Being five steps from the playground and the outside music stage, this location, we are hoping, can become a part of the heartbeat of the square.”

LaMaina opened his first Lucharitos in Greenport in 2012. The chain has since expanded to Center Moriches, Aquebogue, Riverhead, Mattituck, and Melville. LaMaina also shared that his first Nassau County restaurant, located in Mineola, is slated to open by the end of the year.
