Community and business leaders from across the Greater Patchogue area showed up in Bellport Saturday to celebrate the grand opening of the new Circa Something Gallery on Main Street in Bellport Village.
Circa Something opened in its new tri-level gallery space in May after moving from a much smaller location that was near the Cirillo’s Market-IGA in Bellport.
Circa Something first opened near Cirillo’s in 2008.
Owner Bob Baker, a master appraiser of fine arts and antiques, explained that the location at 139 South Country Road in the heart of the village actually houses four businesses.
That includes Circa Something Gallery, Go Green Antiques and Auctions, LTD, One, Two, Three Realty, LLC, and PARC East Appraisers.
Aside from the varied business interests, Baker and his daughter, Aimee, envision Circa Something serving as a cultural hub for the village, featuring rotating art exhibits, poetry readings and special events outside.
Baker said the lobby gallery is mostly dedicated to his daughter’s line of Aimee Marie handcrafted and custom-made jewelry.
The upper level is devoted to changing exhibits from artists mostly from the tri-state area, although sometimes beyond but all American artists.

“That will be constantly changing gallery,” he said.
One thing they like to stress at Circa Something, Baker often says, is that it’s not just a place for people looking to spend $40,000 or even $700 on a piece of art.
“You can purchase great gifts, even from from the gallery, for not a lot of money,” he said.
He also hinted at a special day outside the store on Bellport Day on July 30.
“We’re going to have an array of things outside, but it’s going to be special,” he said. “It’s collectibles that we had in storage from our auction business, and will give people an opportunity from all over to buy things really inexpensively.”
He has also assured the new spot will be decked out for Christmas, as usual.
