Jackie Kennedy’s summer childhood home in East Hampton sells for $52 million

The seven-acre East Hampton estate where Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis spent childhood summers has sold for $52 million.

Designer Tom Ford scooped up the historic property at 121 Further Lane from David Zander, a television, commercial and film producer based in Los Angeles, according to multiple reports.

Named Lasata, a Native American term meaning “place of peace,” the estate went on the market for $55 million in May. It ended up being sold in August for more than twice the $24 million Zander bought the property for in 2018.

The estate featured a 10-bedroom home with nine bathrooms and four half-baths; a two-bedroom guesthouse; a caretaker’s cottage; a heated pool and pool house; a three-car garage; and beautifully landscaped grounds. It is located just two blocks from the ocean.

Ford became the fifth owner of the mansion since its construction in 1917.

Throughout her childhood, Kennedy Onassis summered with her family at Lasata, becoming an expert equestrienne while training on horses at the property. The estate is considered one of the most important and attractive estates on the East End.

At 10 years old, then Jacqueline Bouvier was inspired by her retreats to Lasata to write the poem, “Sea Joy.” It is included in the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum.

Lasata was listed by Eileen O’Neill of The Corcoran Group and Charles Forsman and James Petrie of Compass Real Estate.
