North Fork Doughnut Company and DUBCO team up for donut-inspired beer

|

What do you get when you mix donuts, beer, and Homer Simpson together?

Easy, you get the soon-to-be-released Strawberry Frosted Donut Milkshake IPA—a beer made by the creative minds of North Fork Doughnut Company (NoFoDoCo) and Bay Shore’s Destination Unknown Beer Company (DUBCO).

“It’s a marriage between two things everyone loves,” said Jimmy Lyons, the co-owner of NoFoDoCo. As you may guess, Lyons is a big Simpson fan, having named the IPA after the show’s main character’s favorite treat.

To give the beer the donut taste, the recipe includes oats, strawberry glaze, and frosting from NoFoDoCo.

Lyons is no stranger to the brewing game.

Before opening his donut shop in 2018, Lyons worked in the beer brewing industry for over a decade, where he befriended DUBCO’s co-owner Chris Candiano.

“It’s two small businesses working together, but it’s something fun that we enjoyed doing,” said Lyons.

The beer will debut at a release party in Bay Shore’s Tullulahs on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. There will be raffles and donut tasting at the event.

Afterward, the canned brew will be distributed through beer distributors and bars/ restaurants that are Local to Locals certified.  For the uninitiated, Local to Locals is a certification company that tells consumers which businesses are locally owned and operated.

“It is a good way to bring awareness to a ton of local businesses and showcase beer distributors and bars and restaurants,” said Local to Locals founder Andrew Preston.

Over 50 beer distributors and 8 bars/restaurants will carry the drink.  To find where the beer will be, click here.
