Riverhead Town police responded to Peconic Bay Medical Center Wednesday after an anonymous male caller claimed bombs had been placed outside the hospital.
The call came in to hospital staff, who immediately notified the Riverhead Town Police Department, according to a release from D/Sgt. McDermott. The threat was reported at 11:18 a.m.
Patrol units searched the exterior of the medical center, located at 1 Heroes Way, but found no signs of suspicious activity, explosive devices, or bomb-making materials, police said.
The department’s Detective Division responded to the scene and opened a further investigation, which remains ongoing.
