Long Island’s chicken finger craze is about to get a little louder.
Raising Cane’s, the fast-growing chain known for its chicken finger meals, Texas toast and signature Cane’s sauce, is planning three Long Island restaurants — including its first locations in both Suffolk and Nassau counties.
A Raising Cane’s rep confirmed to Greater Long Island that the company is eyeing new restaurants in Commack, Carle Place and Farmingdale, with each project in a different stage of development.
The locations

- Commack: Raising Cane’s hopes to begin construction next month at 2 Vanderbilt Motor Parkway, the former McDonald’s site, with an anticipated opening in early 2027.
- Carle Place: Permits are pending for a planned restaurant at 357 Old Country Road, the former Chateau Briand catering property. It is not expected to open until spring 2027 at the earliest.
- Farmingdale: Permits are pending for a planned location at 901 Broadhollow Road, along Route 110, at the former Houlihan’s site in the Republic Plaza Shopping Center. It is not expected to open until spring 2027 at the earliest.
The Long Island plans come as Raising Cane’s continues expanding in the New York area. The company opened its first Queens drive-thru restaurant on May 13 at 230-13 Merrick Blvd. in Laurelton.

Founded by Todd Graves in 1996 at Louisiana State University, Raising Cane’s has grown from a college-town chicken finger shop into a national brand with hundreds of locations across the U.S. and beyond.
The company made a major New York splash in June 2023 when it opened its Times Square flagship, where Graves spoke with Greater Long Island about the brand’s growth and cult-like following.
Now, Cane’s is bringing that following deeper onto the Island.
