Store signs go up, Trader Joe’s appears to be near opening in Miller Place

|

The long-anticipated arrival of Trader Joe’s in Miller Place is visibly close, as construction at the Route 25A site appears complete and the first signs of store readiness are in place.

After months of visible progress on the building’s shell and site work, official Trader Joe’s signage is now in place on both the front and side of the structure — delivering a clear signal to shoppers that the trendy grocery chain is gearing up for opening day.

Inside, most of the preparatory work is happening out of public view, with crews focused on interior build-out and fixtures, Greater Long Island observed.

A Trader Joe’s spokesperson told Greater Long Island that the company is “continuing to work towards opening as soon as we can,” although an official opening date has not been announced.

The store — located at 300/302 Route 25A, about a mile east of Echo Avenue — represents the retailer’s easternmost location on Long Island and marks its third store in Suffolk County. There are existing Trader Joe’s shops in Commack and Lake Grove.

The 13,500-square-foot grocery was approved by the Brookhaven Town Board in late 2024, with construction steadily progressing since the walls first started rising during the fall.

Once open, the new Trader Joe’s is expected to draw steady traffic from surrounding communities — including Miller Place, Mount Sinai, Sound Beach and Rocky Point — where residents currently travel roughly half an hour to visit the nearest Trader Joe’s in Lake Grove.

This is a developing story. Greater Long Island will continue to share updates as Trader Joe’s announces an official grand opening date.
