TRAFFIC ADVISORY:
Motorists should expect lane closures beginning Wednesday, April 4, on NYS Route 25A between Blackfoot Trail to Route 25A Bypass in the Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County.
Lane closures are expected during both off-peak daytime hours (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and overnight hours (10 p.m. to 6 a.m.). Portable variable message signs have been placed in the area and will have updates regarding closure dates and times.
Workers will remove two inches of existing blacktop, replace it with a smoother pavement surface, and install new pavement markings along this 2 ½ mile stretch of roadway.
This is one of several locations included under of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s priority paving project announced this past summer, resurfacing nearly 100 miles of state roads on Long Island at a cost of over $679 million. Work at this location is expected to be completed this summer.
Motorists are reminded to drive carefully through the work zone, obey any speed restrictions that may be in place, and the instructions of the flag persons for their safety and the safety of the highway work crew. As with most road projects, work may be cancelled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather.
